On Saturday May 8th, we held our 5th anniversary Open House. Despite the cold, wind, rain and yes, even snow(!) that day, we had a great turnout of wonderful patients and a number of new faces that showed up to share in our celebration. Mayor Dave Barrow also attended the event and participated in the different health learning stations we had...he topped it off with a relaxing 15 min chair massage from Troy.
Congratulations to Wayne Beker, the Grand Prize winner of the 8GB Ipod Nano as well as the other winners of donated prizes from Starbucks, Anytime Fitness, Hair Point Salon, Natura, Metagenics and BodyPlus.
We look forward to improving the health and lives of individuals and families in Richmond Hill/Oak Ridges in the years to come!
For Earth Day, April 22nd, 2010, the Meridian Wellness team was at Richmond Green Park (Leslie & Elgin Mills) planting trees in conjunction with the Town of Richmond Hill. Local school children also took part in this event where we planted a total of 500 trees that day. It was a perfect sunny day to get out and enjoy nature.

The flu season is upons us and with both H1N1 and seasonal flu viruses to worry about, it is important more than ever to maintain optimal immune health for you and your family. Flu viruses mutate constantly, producing new strains from year to year such as the current H1N1 flu strain. We are also aware that a strong immune system is paramount in fighting off any viruses, and that a weakened immune system allows for the growth of bacterial and viral microorganisms. With this in mind, we have developed a NATURAL FLU PREVENTION PROGRAM that is based on the principles of natural medicine whereby the body's natural defenses are supported in order to survive the winter months this year.
On Saturday, November 14th, Dr. Keith volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity build on Hainford St. in Scarborough. 60 homes are in their final phase of construction, and Dr. Keith had an opportunity to lay down laminate flooring on the first floor of one house. Other crew members that day performed jobs such as painting, trim work and subfloor preparation. The deadline for this site development is December 2009 and there is still much work to be completed! If you are interested in volunteering your time and hands, go to their website for more info: http://www.torontohabitat.on.ca/web/help_out.aspxOnce again, Meridian Wellness is an official sponsor the of the Richmond Hill Kings Atom AE hockey team for the 2009-2010 season. We wish all the kids a safe and fun season on the ice.

An overcast and cool morning gave away to a beautiful sunny afternoon at this year's festival which took place on Saturday, June 13th along Yonge Street between Major Mackenzie Drive and Crosby Avenue. Drs. Keith and Misa as well as Troy our massage therapist were there to meet local residents to discuss their health concerns and what treatment options we have available at our clinic. Troy was very busy giving complimentary 10 minute massages...in total he treated 40 people who all walked away with big smiles on their faces! We raffled off two prizes this year: a pair of Blue Jays tickets for a game against the Boston Red Sox on August 19th and a one hour massage treatment with Troy. Our lucky winners this year were Donna Harris and Philip Thomas! Congratulations!

In continuing support of our community and the environment, Dr. Keith helped out on Earth Day, April 22nd, with the tree planting efforts of the Richmond Hill Natural Heritage Section. 500 new trees were planted at Newberry Park in the Yonge & Elgin Mills neighbourhood which is a part of the Rouge Watershed!
In addition to Dr. Keith, about 200 elementary students from Toronto Montessori School, Langstaff Public School and HG Bernard Public School were in attendance. Richmond Hill Mayor Dave Barrow and Town Councillors Vito Spatafora, Greg Beros and Godwin Chan were there at 10 am to kick-off the event.
If you missed it this time, there are other upcoming tree planting events for the month of May...for more information go to: http://www.richmondhill.ca/documents/earth_day_poster.pdf or contact the Natural Heritage section at: (888)684-8646
Dr. Jennifer Grochocinski was one of the many great exhibitors at the Spring Baby Show that took place on April 1, 2009 at the Glenway Country Club in Newmarket. There was a very large turnout of expectant mothers from York Region and Dr. Jennifer had a chance to talk to them about natural approaches to healthy pregnancy. There were also many exciting door prizes, gift bags and other special displays that day.
