IonCleanse® Detox

What is the IonCleanse®?

Today we are exposed to the greatest toxic load in our planet's history, and in this toxic environment, tissue acid wastes, chemical and heavy metal residues build up in the body faster than ever before, resulting in a greater incidence of allergies, mental, and physical incapacitation. Therefore, ongoing periodic detoxification is essential to maintain health and avoid disease. All healing traditions - for example, Egyptian, Native American, Ayurvedic, Chinese - except Western Medicine offer body purification as a means of healing and avoiding disease.

Detoxification includes clearing physical pollutants such as toxic metals, harmful industrial chemicals, parasitic disease organisms, dead cellular material and cellular waste.

How does IonCleanse® work?

The IonCleanse® array is placed into the water alongside the feet or hands, while the power supply delivers a low level direct current to the array. This causes the metals within the array in combination with water and salt to generate positively and negatively charged ions by separating oxygen and hydrogen in the water.

A water molecule is composed of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. When the molecule loses a hydrogen atom which becomes a positively charged ion, the remaining OH (hydroxide) molecule becomes a negatively charged ion. An ion is a charged atom which creates a magnetic field capable of attaching to and neutralizing oppositely charged particles. These neutralized particles are extracted from the body through the process called diffusion. Diffusion is a scientific term that is used to describe the movement of particles through a membrane from an area of lower concentration to an area of higher concentration. In this case, the higher concentration refers to the ion field that is set up by placing the array into the water while running the unit.

During the session, your body absorbs millions of these negatively charged OH ions, which alkalize the blood and tissue. Because of poor diet and high stress, we tend to accumulate and store excessive quantities of waste products, such as diacetic, lactic, pyruvic, uric, carbonic, acetic, butyric, and hepatic acids.

The practitioner determines the polarity setting through the use of pH strips to measure the patient's acidity level. It is believed that ions generated by the IonCleanse® travel through the body attracting themselves to a multitude of toxic substances, thereby neutralizing their positive or negative charge. It may be possible to reduce pain and other symptoms caused by a lifetime of toxic buildup in the body (assuming the symptoms are caused by toxic buildup). The long-term effectiveness of the IonCleanse® detoxification process, however, depends on other life-enhancing changes a person is willing to make.

Why do I need IonCleanse® therapy?

Aging is a gradual accumulation of toxic chemicals and other substances in the body which cause oxidative stress and resultant breakdown of tissue homeostasis. This aging process is inevitable, and even the most regimented individuals following a healthy lifestyle experience some form of damage from toxic materials that we absorb from the environment. This absorption of toxins occurs over a lifetime and is initially sub-lethal, but gradual poisoning eventually becomes the source of chronic disease, making detoxification an essential component of anti-aging medicine. For individuals with occupations that expose them to industrial chemicals, heavy metals, and pesticides, detoxification is crucial.

According to Dr. Theodore Baroody, author of Alkalize or Die, acid wastes attack joints, tissues, muscles, organs, and glands causing minor to major dysfunction. He asserts that avoiding disease and maintaining vitality, as we age, requires the maintenance of an alkaline environment throughout the body - which is virtually impossible to accomplish in our high-tech, high-stress, toxic society.

What can I expect from my IonCleanse® session?

Healthy individuals can expect to feel lighter and experience a greater feeling of well-being from each IonCleanse® session. Some people with pain, edema, swollen and deteriorating joints have reported symptomatic relief from IonCleanse® sessions.

What will I see in the water during the session?

Many colours and objects appear in the water during IonCleanse® sessions. There is a reaction between the toxins and particles in the water, the salt added to the water, the metals in the array, and the acidity or alkalinity or toxicity of the patient. All of these combine to produce colour, whether or not feet are in the water. The basic colour produced by these reactions varies from one geographic area to another.

How will I feel after the IonCleanse® session?

After the session you may experience: thirst, light-headedness, light headache, hunger and/or a need to rest right after the session. Also, you may experience loss stools for a couple of days. These are typical responses to detoxification. Many people, however, experience none of the above.

After your IonCleanse® session, you may need to replace the following: electrolytes (potassium, sodium, bicarbonate, chloride, calcium, magnesium), minerals, essential omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants.

Are supplements or other therapies recommended in addition to IonCleanse®?

Massage therapy followed by an IonCleanse® session can greatly enhance the detoxification process because the massage will improve circulation and mobilize toxins after which the IonCleanse® will then remove them from the body. Therefore it is recommended to have a 45 minute or 60 minute massage before your IonCleanse® treatments.

Supplements that improve organ system function can also benefit the body purification process. The naturopath can recommend specific products depending on your individual needs.

The cost per session is only $50.00 (includes GST). We also offer Ultimate Body Purification packages that combine the IonCleanse® treatments with massage therapy as well as supplements to give you the best value and optimal results. Please note fees may change without notice.

Will IonCleanse ® be covered under my benefits?

Yes, if you have coverage for Naturopathic Medicine through the extended benefits at your work. Since IonCleanse® is a form of hydrotherapy, a naturopathic modality, all sessions will be billed as Naturopathic visits.
