The art of Indian Head Massage originated from Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine. The Ayurvedic approach to health is the balance of body, mind and spirit and the promotion of long life. Indian Head Massage was developed as part of the daily grooming routine in India. Champissage is the Sankrit word meaning “to have your head massaged”.
Clients sit comfortably in a chair and Indian Head Massage is performed on the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, head and face. Both soothing and stimulating techniques are used in the Indian Head Massage treatment which lasts for 30 minutes.
Benefits of IHM are: general relaxation, improved circulation, increased oxygen to the brain, relaxation of taut muscles, reduction in stiffness, increased joint mobility and promotion of hair growth. It also helps to dissipate mental fatigue, stress, and depression resulting in greater mental alertness, concentration and clearer thinking.
